It's not letting me see the ground on the game RIFT?

I just downloaded the game, well not the game but the open beta. This game's beginning was actually rather sweet, I loved the character customization and everything. But once I finally logged in, All I saw were people, but no ground. It was like floating in mid air. I restarted the whole game 10 different times, and I honestly don't want to re-download the whole thing. Any suggestions ?
